May 7- 14, 2008 - Richard Smith and Julie Adams
Richard Smith
' At the age of eleven, Richard met, and was honored to play with
his hero, Chet Atkins, acclaimed as the "Godfather" of fingerstyle
guitar, before an enraptured audience of 1,000 at Her Majesty's Theatre
in London. Chet sat in stunned silence, too amazed to join in, while
Richard flawlessly performed Chet's arrangement of "Little Rock
Getaway." By the age of twenty, Chet Atkins began referring to Richard
as his "hero." Since then, Richard has toured around the world,
surprising audiences everywhere with his genius, showcasing a repertoire
of musical styles from country, bluegrass, mainstream jazz, modern pop,
rock and classical guitar. In 2001, after marrying the lovely and accomplished
American cellist, Julie Adams, Richard won the National Fingerstyle Guitar
Championship in Winfield, Kansas.
